About Dr. Fury

Dr. Matthew Fury is a Shoulder, Elbow, Knee, and Sports Medicine Specialist at BROC’s Ascension and Bluebonnet Campuses.

Dr. Matthew Fury is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports-related injuries to the shoulder, elbow, and knee as well as complex shoulder conditions. He has a special interest in the comprehensive treatment of overhead/throwing athletes. Born and raised in Harahan, Dr. Fury attended LSU where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering while playing on the LSU Baseball team. He received his Doctor of Medicine at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans before completing his orthopedic surgery residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. During his time at Harvard, he was awarded the Executive Committee Award as well as the Louis Meeks, MD Award for Excellence in Sports Medicine. He then pursued further specialization in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City where he was mentored by many of the world-renowned leaders in sports medicine and shoulder surgery. During this time, he served as an Assistant Team Physician for the New York Mets and Brooklyn Cyclones while also participating in the care of athletes from the New York Giants, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, New York Red Bulls, and New York Rangers. At the conclusion of fellowship, he was honored with the Warren R. Kadrmas, MD Award for citizenship and dedication to sports medicine. Dr. Fury is an active researcher whose work has been published and presented at the national and international level, and he continues to perform research in collaboration with Major League Baseball.
